Clinical Governance Resources

Courses and Training

Wisdomnet offers three online courses. We currently have a contract from NHS Yorkshire and Humber for our clinical governance course, which is geared to SpRs, but is also available to others at a cost of £250, as are the two information management courses.

Other Courses

• Certificate in Clinical Audit for Health and Social Care, provided by Research and Professional Development, accredited by University of Greenwich.


• Healthcare Quality Quest offer a number of courses from £1010 plus VAT.


• University of Westminster offers a five-day course in clinical governance costing £750.


• Putting Evidence into Practice, a day release short course from the University of Portsmouth, free to staff in NHS South Central.


• Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, offer a short online introduction to clinical governance at a cost of £100.

Training Organisations

• Skills for Health is the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the UK health sector. It helps the health sector develop solutions that deliver a skilled and flexible UK workforce in order to improve health and healthcare.


• Patient Voices aims to 'facilitate the telling and the hearing of some of the unwritten and unspoken stories of ordinary people so that those who devise and implement strategy in health and social care, as well as the professionals and clinicians directly involved in care, may carry out their duties in a more informed and compassionate manner.'


• Assessment and Learning in Practice Settings (ALPS) is a Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning that aims to 'ensure that students graduating from courses in health and social care are fully equipped to perform confidently and competently at the start of their professional careers.'
